Medical Travel to Monterrey, Mexico. How It Works.
A two-hour flight from Texas, board-certified surgeons at Hospital Ángeles, and a U.S.-based concierge that handles the logistics. Here is exactly what happens from your first message to your follow-up at home.
Why patients from the U.S. and Canada choose Monterrey
Monterrey is Mexico's industrial and medical capital, about a 2-hour flight from Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, with direct flights from multiple U.S. hubs. Its private hospitals — including the Hospital Ángeles group where Summit's surgeons operate — serve a large population of executives and international patients, with modern operating rooms, private rooms and English-speaking staff.
For many procedures the total cost, even including flights and hotel, is a fraction of a U.S. hospital estimate — and you receive an itemized quote before you travel, so there are no surprises.
Step by step
- Contact us. Send the form or a WhatsApp message with the procedure you are interested in.
- Free video consultation. Our U.S. patient concierge and the surgeon review your case, imaging and prior treatments.
- Written plan and itemized quote. Surgeon, anesthesia, hospital, hotel and transfers, in one document. Gynecologic patients receive a written surgical plan in English.
- You decide — then you book. Only after you have the plan and the price do you buy your flight.
- Arrival in Monterrey. Ground transfers from the airport, hotel check-in and a preoperative evaluation in person.
- Surgery at Hospital Ángeles with 24-hour nursing during your hospital stay.
- Recovery in Monterrey. Hotel with local follow-up (and nursing or physical therapy where the package includes it).
- Clearance to fly after your in-person check, and remote follow-up once you are home.
How long you stay
- Knee replacement: about 2 weeks — 3 nights in hospital and 10 nights of hotel with nursing assistance and daily physical therapy.
- Major gynecologic surgery (endometriosis, hysterectomy, myomectomy): about 14 days — arrive 7 days before, 1 night in hospital, in-person wound check at 7–10 days before your return flight.
- Operative hysteroscopy: 2 days.
- Plastic surgery: depends on the procedure; the surgeon sets the timeline in your plan.
What to bring
- A valid passport (required to enter Mexico; a visa is not required for U.S. or Canadian citizens for short stays).
- Your imaging and medical reports (digital copies are fine).
- A list of your current medications and allergies.
- A companion is welcome — the hotel and transfers can be arranged for two.
Safety and quality
Summit works only with board-certified surgeons and with Hospital Ángeles, one of Mexico's largest private hospital groups. All procedures are performed by licensed surgeons, and Summit offers a satisfaction guarantee: you pay only when the agreed outcome is delivered.
Language
The patient concierge and the surgeons work in English and Spanish. Consultations, surgical plans and follow-up are conducted in English.
